Calibration Expansion: Anemometer Testing

JM Test Systems has once again expanded our calibration capabilities by adding the Flotek 360 low noise benchtop Wind Tunnel by GDJ Inc. to our lab.

What is an Anemometer and how is it used?

An anemometer is a device which measures wind speed and direction or gas current.   Anemometers are used in many different industries covering a wide range of applications.  They are used in weather stations and by climatologists in monitoring and predicting weather.  Engineers use them in aerodynamics when designing vehicles and planes.  They are used in HVAC to ensure system fans are blowing properly.  Not to mention many recreational uses, such as in drone operation, long-range competitive shooting competitions, and storm chasing.  Airports also utilize anemometers to minimize risk of low altitude planes while landing and taking off.

Thanks to the Flotek 360 lab standard, we now possess the capability to calibrate probe style anemometers up to a maximum velocity of 8000 ft/min in-house.  The Flotek 360 utilizes Industry Standard National Instruments LabVIEW software with National Instruments Data Acquisition Hardware, so you can be assured that your anemometer or wind meters are properly tested to manufacturer’s specifications.
