Product Overview: PIE 525B Automated Thermocouple & RTD Calibrator
Calibrate Thermocouple Instruments with 0.1° and 0.01°F/°C Resolution
The PIE 525B supports the thermocouple types you use most, including J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N, G, C, D, L (J-DIN), U (T-DIN), and P (Platinel II). It can also calibrate directly in millivolts from -13.0000 to +80.0000 mV.
Calibrate RTD Instruments with 0.1° and 0.01°F/°C Resolution
Leave the decade box and RTD resistance tables behind. The PIE 525B works with a wide range of RTDs, including Platinum 10, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1000 Ohm (alpha = 3850), Platinum 100 Ohm (alpha = 3902, 3916, 3926), Copper 10 and 50 Ohm, and Nickel 120 Ohm. It also calibrates resistance from 0.000 to 400.000 Ohms and 0.00 to 4000.00 Ohms. For RTD applications, the calibrator measures fixed or pulsed sensor current automatically.
Speed Up Calibration with Automatic Output Stepping
Quickly set values to within 0.1° or 0.01° using the adjustable digital potentiometer DIAL. Store up to three temperatures for instant recall with the EZ-CHECK™ switch. Select 2, 3, 5, or 11 step sequences, then ramp output automatically in 100%, 50%, 25%, 10%, or 5% span increments. Step times can be set from 5 to 60 seconds.
Compatible with Virtually Any Process Instrument
The PIE 525B is designed to work with more process instruments than competing calibrators. Connect directly to the temperature inputs of transmitters, PLCs, DCS systems, and multichannel recorders to verify displays and outputs. RTD simulation supports both older instruments with fixed excitation currents and newer multichannel instruments that switch excitation current between input channels.
Measure Thermocouple and RTD Sensors
Troubleshoot sensor connections, locate broken wires, and identify corroded connections with the PIE 525B. It measures probes with 0.1° or 0.01°C/°F resolution. A secondary display shows the corresponding millivolt or resistance value, along with the calibrator’s measured cold junction temperature. For RTDs, simply connect two-, three-, or four-wire sensors and the PIE 525B automatically detects the configuration.
Lab-Level Accuracy and Stability
The internal cold junction thermistor is accurate to ±0.05°C and traceable to NIST. It is thermally bonded to an isothermal mass with brass blocks and screw terminals for bare thermocouple wire connections, plus a miniature thermocouple connector for faster hookups. Built with an extremely stable voltage reference and low-drift components, the PIE 525B delivers greater accuracy than other handheld units and even many benchtop thermocouple calibrators.
Ideal for Heat Treating Surveys and Accuracy Tests
When certified by an accredited lab, the PIE 525B can meet the requirements of an AMS 2750 field test instrument for heat-treating uniformity surveys and system accuracy tests.
