Megger’s new 5 kV and 10 kV insulation resistance testers are designed for testing and maintaining high-voltage electrical equipment. According to IEEE 43-2000, 10 kV testing is recommended for motor windings rated above 12 kV, which the Megger MIT1020 supports.

The rugged polypropylene case is easy to carry and has an IP54 ingress protection rating. The model number is clearly marked on both the top and side of the case for quick identification in storage or vehicles.

The testers feature a large backlit LCD for easy reading in bright or low-light conditions. Displayed information includes resistance, voltage, leakage current, capacitance, battery status, and time constant, with elapsed test time shown continuously, eliminating the need for separate timers.

The instrument can operate on AC mains power or its internal rechargeable battery, providing flexibility for long-term testing or when site conditions are unpredictable.

Clear, simple controls and a “quick start” guide inside the lid make the instrument easy to use without bulky manuals. A guard terminal and test lead are included to improve measurement accuracy.

The test voltage is adjustable from 50 V to the maximum output, allowing the instrument to adapt to various applications without needing multiple testers. Safety is a priority, meeting EN61010 standards, and the instrument displays a high-voltage warning if terminal voltage exceeds 50 V, preventing testing. It also automatically discharges stored energy after testing.

The MIT520 and MIT1020 are ideal for routine and diagnostic testing, pre-programmed with IR, PI, DAR, SV, and DD profiles.
